Fun Fonts!

I am in the process of working on my Digiscrap "goodies" and I have had
a hard time deciding where to start with this. I have been "playing around"
with digital scrapbooking for about a year now, and when I started, fonts and
typography was probably one of my first interests. Of course you can create
your own unique fonts, but there are also tons of online sites that you can get
them for FREE. Once you download and install the font, you can use them
with Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Paint and many other programs. Today I am
going to share some funky new fonts that I have recently stumbled upon, as
well as explain how to install these on your computer.

Some of my most favorite sites to download FREE FONTS are:

Downloading and Installing Fonts on a PC:

1. Download or save a font of your choice to your computer. TIP: During this process,
I have found it very helpful to FIRST create a new temporary folder on your desktop.
I usually name mine "new fonts". Do this before you download any of your fonts...
trust me, you'll thank me later! This folder is where you want to save all of your
new font files.

2. For the next step, you will need WinZip. CLICK HERE to download the latest
version of WinZip if you don't already have it. Now you need to go to the
folder that you created in step 1. You will have to click on each file that you
dowloaded to unzip. While unzipping your files, a new window will pop up asking
where you want to save the UNZIPPED file. I always save mine AGAIN
to the same folder created in step 1. At the end of this process, you will basically
have 2 copies of each file in your folder, one that is the original zipped file
and a new unzipped copy.

3. Now that all of your files are unzipped, go to "Start", "Settings" then "Control
Panel". Once that window is opened, double-click on the Fonts icon, as shown
below.

4. The "fonts" window will now be open, and you should be able to see all
the fonts currently installed on your PC.

5. Click on "file" and when the pop-up window appears select "install new
fonts". The "add fonts" window will open and in the lower left hand box, you
will need to search for the folder (which is conveniently located on your desktop...
you're welcome!) that contains your unzipped font files.

6. For the next and final step, double-click on the font you wish to install. Once
the font is highlighted in the "list of fonts" section all you have to do is simply
click the OK button to install. Easy, right?! Once you do this a few times,
it IS easy-peasy, I promise!

NOTE:
If for some reason  the "INSTALL NEW FONT" command does not appear in your
version of windows, you can still install fonts by using the DRAG AND DROP option.
Simply unzip the font, then open the font folder, it can be found in:
(Remember?!... this is on your desktop)
Once the font folder is opened, place the mouse icon over the unzipped true type
font file, press down on the left mouse button and keeping you finger pressed
on the font file you can now drag it into the font folder. The font is now installed.
